Hi Robert;
It's always a good idea to post up the bike specifics, year/make model etc.
Having said that, it sounds like you're pointing to the Main relay which is on the right side of the bike (for first gen bikes). If so, it's the same relay as used for the fan relay which is located right next to it. Thus, you can remove the main relay, and swap it with the fan relay to see if it starts properly.
If so, then you know the main relay needs to be replaced. A quick and easy way to, hopefully, diagnose your issue. Bear in mind, if this works then the fan will likely not work as the relay is NFG.
