I'd have to agree - safety first and tires are critical to that. The best tire I found was the Metzeler Interac M5 in a 110/70/17 but, they should not be done singly, they should be done in pairs. If you can still get the M5, it's the one to use. |

Yup. It's not 'normal' but with the narrow rims there's not a lot you can do. The M5's have extra belts in them that lend themselves quite well to the task. Once more, it's not something you want to do one at a time and it's important that the tire is pretty rigid. |

One option that I am considering is the Michelin Gazelle M62. Good traction for sand, and an excellent brand. I would use 2.50-17 (or 2.75) front, and 3.00 rear. The 2.25 is probably too skinny for the front. |
